1. Ile Sainte Marie Madagascar:
The number 1 tourist attraction in Madagascar is Ile Sainte Marie that lies off the east coast of the country. This island is an array of protected bays and the inlets here used to draw many pirates towards the Ile Sainte Marie during the 17th century and 18th century. You can still see several pirate ship wrecks in the place where the waters of Baie des Forbans are shallow. At present, this island is one of the top tourist attractions of the country and the clear still waters of the island make it the ideal spot for snorkeling. You can get to see the humpback whales during summer and early fall.
2. Isalo National Park
Isalo National Park is very attractive place for tourists as it shows off varied terrain. The Isalo National Park is situated in the central south region of the country and this very park is home to grasslands, sandstone formations and steep canyons and to top all that diversity, you can also find some occasional pools which are lined by palm trees. You definitely need a guide at your service when you go visiting the Isalo National Park. The tours can be arranged as long as you want, a few hours or several days.
3. Nosy Be Madagascar:
Nosy Be is a small island but it is one of the best tourist attractions in Madagascar and in this tiny island you can see thousands of tourists year round. The Nosy Be beaches are not so picture perfect like the other popular beaches in the world, but they do have very clear and turquoise waters and the restaurants here serve the best sea food.
4. Tsingy de Bemaraha Madagascar:
Tsingy de Bemaraha is a reserve that is located in the south region of the Madagascar’s largest natural reserve called Tsingy de Bemaraha natural reserve. The word tsingy means the pinnacles that are at the park’s limestone plateau. The park is located near the west coast of the country and houses a very huge mangrove forest. The park houses seven lemur species, including the creamy white fur and black faced lemur, the Deckens Sifaka.
5. Ifaty Madagascar:
Ifaty is a place with two dusty fishing villages and is located on the cost of southwest region of Madagascar. There is a 60 mile long coral reef offshore which acts as a natural barrier to the rough waves of the sea and thus creating the costal waters which are very ideal for adventures and activities like scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing. The inland area of Ifaty is well known for spiny forests where you can find the ancient and strange looking baobab trees.
6. Avenue of the Baobabs Madagascar:
Avenue of the Baobabs is a road between the Belon’i Tsiribihina and Morondava in the west region of Madagascar and is lined with a group of baobabs trees. Although it is a dirt road, the landscape it features is striking which draws many tourists from all around the planet which makes this place the most visited places in the world. the baobab trees are 800 years old and they used to stand in a dense tropical forest. But over years, the trees were cut for agriculture leaving the baobab trees in their place.
7. Andasibe-Mantadia National Park:
Andasibe-Mantadia is a national park which is located in a 100 mile area in the eat Madagascar. The national park houses 11 lemur species including the indri, the largest lemur in the country. The Andasibe-Mantadia is in the capital city, Antananarivo and is a very easy park to visit. The park is divided into two parts, the Analamazoatra Reserve and the Mantadia National Park. You can get a tour that lasts from 1 to 6 hours from local guides.
8. Royal Hill of Ambohimanga Madagascar:
Royal Hill of Ambohimanga is the most sacred place of Malagasy for over 500 years. This is a historic village that once houses Madagascar royalty. The wall surrounding the village was constructed in 1847 and made with lime and egg whites. The former home of King Andrianampoinimerina is in The Mahandrihono compound where the walls are made of solid rosewood and the artifacts of this king including the drums, talismans and weapons can be seen here.
9. Ranomafana National Park:
Ranomafana National Park is in the south east part of Madagascar near the village Ranomafana. It is most popular park in the country. The east side of the park is a very scenic place with many streams and dense forested hills. The park houses endangered bamboo lemur which feeds on the kind of bamboo shoots that is filled with cyanide which is lethal to other animals, interesting isn’t’ it?
10. Masoala National Park Madagascar:
Masoala National Park is located in the north east part of Madagascar and cover approximately 250 miles of rainforest area and there are 3 marine parks inside the Masoala National Park. In this park, one can see 10 species of lemur including the aye-aye. The park also has very diverse number of birds and reptiles like tomato frog which is popular for its color red. The marine parks are famous for the snorkeling and kayaking activities.
