Brussels

Mons is a city rich in tradition and history, and in the month of June a mass of tourists attends the town’s most important annual event, where they can watch the reenactment of dragon slaying by Saint George. If you are an art enthusiast, you can take an excursion to the Van Gogh house, where an enduring exhibition of reproductions and an audio-visual show takes place.

Mechelen

This picturesque city, filled with quaint shops and pedestrian areas, is most popular for the carillon school; students from all around the globe come here to learn to play church bells. Mechelen is also the keeper of more than 300 listed monuments and buildings, a children’s farm, a Toy Museum and, for the more mature kids, one of the oldest functioning breweries in the country, the Anker.

Waterloo

For every history fan, Waterloo is a significant stop. This is the place where Napoleon’s army was finally defeated and today, an artificial hill stands amidst the encircling flat lands, crowned with a memorial lion sculpture, providing wonderful views.

Ghent

Over 400 historical buildings, 18 museums, 100 churches and an opera house, all in the city of Ghent. Most of the town center is closed to vehicles, so it is best to do the exploring on foot, with a bicycle, or by a boat along the graceful canals.

Bruges

Even though Bruges is a town modest in size, it is impressive, culturally active and strikingly beautiful, filled with artistic and architectural treasures, folklore, boutiques, chocolate shops and fine restaurants. Going on a trip around the city with a horse-drawn carriage can be an unforgettable experience.

De Haan

This attractive seaside village, located in the north of Belgium, is known for the 11 kilometers long beach, lined with the seafront that is packed with bars, cafés and restaurants, and right outside the town, you can find massive sand dunes entwined with numerous biking and hiking trails.
